How to Check a .ton Domain on Chain

Who owns a .ton name, what it resolves to, when its registration runs out, whether an auction is live, and its history.

  1. 1

    Open the name’s own page

Go to /domain/ followed by the name. Searching a name opens the wallet it points to instead, when it has one.

    Open foundation.ton
  2. 2

    Read the owner

A .ton name is an NFT in the TON DNS collection. Owner is the account that holds it, and only the owner can renew it.

  3. 3

    Read what it resolves to

Resolved Records shows Wallet (where payments to the name go), Site (ADNL), Storage (Bag ID) and Next Resolver. A name may set none of them.

  4. 4

    Read the renewal deadline

Registration runs 366 days from the owner’s last action that carried value, not only from a renewal. So the Renewal deadline moves: it is a date to renew by, not a fixed expiry.

  5. 5

    Check for a live auction

Auction in progress shows the top bid and when it ends; a bid in its final hour pushes the end back. A name with no owner is not necessarily in auction: an ended one keeps its last state until someone settles it.

  6. 6

    Read its history

Activity lists what happened to the name on chain, each with its transaction.

  7. 7

Read “No on-chain DNS record found” as it is

It does not mean the name is free. An expired name not yet released, a name in auction and a string under 4 characters, which cannot be registered, all answer the same.
